Environmental Management and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
LifeSize is committed to fulfilling its social and environmental responsibilities as a global corporate citizen. As a manufacturer, these responsibilities include ensuring that our products are safely and efficiently manufactured.
To build our systems, LifeSize employs the services of a world-class electronics manufacturing partner, whose manufacturing operations were awarded the ISO 9001/9002 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certifications. These designations involve rigorous documentation and inspection by acredited auditors to certify that processes are in place for quality, environmental and regulatory compliance. In partnership with our manufacturing partner, we closely monitor both the manufacturing operations and our supply chain to ensure that these processes are followed and we are fulfilling our obligations.
Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
In addition to ensuring the safe and efficient manufacture of our products, our contract manufacturer has implemented manufacturing processes and material handling methods which meet the environmental requirements for the European Directives (EU); Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS). Read more about our RoHS compliance program.
LifeSize is committed to eliminating or reducing the use of hazardous and environmentally-sensitive substances in our products. Working with our manufacturing partners, LifeSize restricts the use of cadmium, hexavalent chromium, lead, mercury, and certain halogenated flame retardants (PBBs and PBDEs) in our electronic products.
LifeSize is guided by three laws: The European Union (“EU”) enacted the Directive on the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) on July 1, 2006. On the same date, Japan enacted similar legislation known as “Japan RoHS” or “J-MOSS.” And on February 28, 2006, China released a regulation called “Management Methods for Controlling Pollution by Electronic Information Products” or commonly referred to as China RoHS on, restricting use of the same six hazardous substances as EU RoHS, but having a different method of compliance verification.
To ensure that our global impact is minimized, all LifeSize products meet the requirements of the EU RoHS Directive worldwide, even though compliance is not required. All LifeSize products shipping directly into China are China RoHS compliant and specifically labeled as such.
In addition to meeting RoHS requirements, LifeSize will continue to work to reduce the use of environmentally-sensitive materials in our products, as well as continue to evaluate the technical and environmental, health and safety impacts of alternative materials.
